Renewing a sacred space for the next generation
For decades, the Zayit Mikveh has served as an essential part of Jewish family life in Efrat. After many years of continuous use, the facility now requires comprehensive renewal. Aging plumbing, limited accessibility, inefficient heating and outdated preparation areas no longer reflect the dignity, comfort and beauty appropriate to this important mitzvah.
In partnership with the Efrat Religious Council, the Efrat Foundation is helping lead a major renovation of the entire complex. Government funding has been secured toward the project, but covers only part of the total cost. The renewed mikveh will include fully upgraded women’s and men’s facilities, enlarged preparation rooms, an accessible bridal room, underfloor heating, renewed immersion pools and keilim mikveh, artistic finishes, upgraded reception and waiting areas, new furnishings and security systems, and renewed landscaping.
Our goal is to create a warm, dignified and accessible environment that will serve the Zayit neighborhood and wider Efrat community for decades to come. The project also offers a rare opportunity for lasting dedication: most areas of the mikveh have never previously been formally dedicated, allowing donors to honor or memorialize a loved one through a mitzvah that continues quietly from generation to generation.
